Ear problems

My little one is 9 months now, and he has had an ear infection for a few months, and has been OK during the day but at night was waking 5-6 times, would only settle if I held him or gave him a bottle. I have been to a specialist who told me that when a baby has an ear infection, and lie flat they feel hungover and hear a noise as if they were under water!!! That must be horrible!! And would explain why he settled being held...also the sucking helped, but she suggested raising the mattress' head end, by putting a pillow underneath, and he sleeps SOOO well now!! Poor baby, I wish someone had told me sooner, that's why I'm putting it on here, so other mums with the same problem can try it!!
